Years ago after I’d gotten out of a relationship I decided to give my ex a different ring tone.

It was different than all of the other calls coming though because I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss the call.

I subconsciously waited for the phone to ring. It never did and I never heard that ringtone again.

Sometimes it can take a long time to get over an ex. It always amazes me when people say they got out of a relationship and 6-8 months later they met the person they married.

It’s never been that way for me. There’s always been long stretches of time between one relationship and another and I’ve realized that for me, God did this for a reason.

Sometimes God has us in a holding pattern. He’s waiting on us to learn the lesson(s) he’s been trying to teach us. For a long time I waited on someone to fill a void I didn’t think could be filled alone. I thought I needed a person. But God led me through this process of restoration and self love and now anyone who is added is an addition, not the main attraction.

I had let God undo all of the hurt I’d experienced and turn my heart of stone into one of flesh. Now it’s a challenge to pull me away from my alone time. I love being with me! And at the end of the day, I’m so good with me that I can be better with someone else.

If you’re holding onto your past or old ways it’s ok. God has a way of helping you through. He’s in your corner but also pushing you to be better. Don’t subconsciously wait for a call that may never come. Instead, work on you so when your time comes, you’ll  be ready for what God has for you.

Happy Waiting
