I used to live in the dark.
I bought dark furniture, I felt safest in dark rooms….and I lived in a room without a window that let the outside world in. I felt safer that way, protected even, and as long as I was in there, there was no way anyone could get me.
Once I began to transform, I no longer found safety in darkness, I needed light and I needed it more abundantly.
When I moved into my house I was so afraid. Never had I lived somewhere with so many windows. My mind would roam and race thinking of all of the ways someone could attack me or hurt me.
So I hurried up and put paper blinds and sheets over the windows but still, I didn’t feel safe.
So I put up drapes in my room – over the black paper blinds. Overtime I started taking the paper blinds down, one by one, until today – February 2nd, when I took down the last one.
I’ve lived in my house for 6.5 years and I still struggle with feeling safe. But today, while laying in bed, I was finally fed up with the darkness – fed up with not having enough light to read, to absorb, to think and I finally I tore down the last pair of blinds in my room.
So much light was let in.
I had no idea what I was missing and it all happened because I got tired of being in the dark.
I took the blinds down and threw them down the stairs. They’re paper so it didn’t cause a huge commotion. But once I finished reading and left my room I was shocked at what I had found.
Although I was convinced I was keeping the light out and keeping safety in, the light was coming through whether I wanted it to or not. Light was literally coming through and making its way to the other side.
Even though we may find some security in the darkness, the light is always making its way through. Whether you realize it or not, it’s coming.
Are you ready for your breakthrough or are you content with the darkness that no longer serves you?
I’ll be real with you. Letting the light in can be scary especially if you’re used to the dark but God is with you along the way and whether you opt to challenge the darkness with light -by tearing the paper down on your own or waiting for God to do it, it’s coming.
What’s your light? What do you need to let in? Is it love, hope, faith, or trust? Is it peace?God gave the world light and His light is available to you right NOW.
What do you need to tear down to let more light in? What are you willing to do? I’d had enough of the darkness and was ready to live more abundantly in the light!
So, let the light in, take hold of it, it’s waiting for you. Let the light in and watch God transform your LIFE!
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:3-4 NLT
