Go…Slow

Not long ago I was sitting at a light waiting to make a turn. The person who was crossing the street stopped in the middle and motioned for me to make the turn.

I ignored her. She did it again and I ignored her again.

Then, the person behind me honked presumably because they were ready for me to make the turn. I ignored them as well.

What they didn’t know - that I very well knew - was that to turn from this lane, we’d have to wait for the turn signal. So I waited.

This entire scenario happens more often than I would like - the person behind me doesn’t see the do not turn on red sign so they honk incessantly.

This also happens at work, when someone rushes to make a decision or in life where someone pushes you to do something you’re not yet ready to do.

Go slow. People will wait - or they won’t - but waiting provides time to think and make the very best choice.

It gives you time to decide if the relationship is worth pursuing or if waiting may be best at this time.

So go slow and in due time you’ll know when the pace needs to change. And when you decide to pick up the pace everything will come together.

But until then trust yourself and go slow. The world can wait.
