Joy Comes In The Mourning

I’ve seen this twice in the last 24 hours so it’s time to write.

God’s Word says joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). But today, as I write this, I’ve realized that joy comes in the mourning.

The process of mourning is what brings joy. Grief needs relief - it needs to be released, and witnessed and if we don’t release it, it’ll eat us alive.

We have to mourn. How else are we going to get to the joy? Joy is when someone gets it, they understand what you’re going through and they are able to carry the load with you. Joy is when you are met with care on a day where you could have or were about to fall apart. Joy is promised - it’s what God gives, it’s what Jesus gave.

Blessed are those who mourn because they will be comforted. So to be comforted, you have to mourn. Let the mourning happen, so you can experience a spiritual morning - an internal refresh that only comes after you’ve allowed yourself to feel.
